Arsene Wenger Agrees Two-year Contract Extension At Arsenal

<b>Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly agreed a 
two-year contract extension after meeting club owner Stan Kroenke on 
Monday.</b><br />
<br />
The BBC claims Arsenal will confirm Wenger’s new deal on Wednesday, 
five days after the manager guided the Gunners to the 2017 FA Cup title.<br />
<br />
Regardless of cup success, Wenger’s position has been subject to intense scrutiny throughout the 2016-2017 season.<br />
<br />
A vocal minority of Arsenal fans were exasperated by underwhelming 
results during the season, with Bayern Munich notoriously destroying 
them by a 10-2 aggregate margin in the Champions League in March.<br />
<br />
Wenger also failed to deliver Champions League football next season 
after Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League, 21 points behind 
title winners Chelsea.<br />

Wenger recently lambasted the criticisms he has endured this season. 
“The lack of respect from some has been a disgrace and I will never 
never forget it,” he told BBC Sport.<br />
<br />

Wenger silenced his critics, though, as Arsenal won the FA Cup after beating Chelsea by a 2-1 score.<br />
<br />

The Frenchman’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of June. 
By signing a new contract, Wenger – who had been earning £8.9 million 
per year – extends his Gunners tenure to 23 years.<br />

He has led the club to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup trophies.<br />

<strong>Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has the potential to be as good as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.</strong><br />
<br />

Sanchez, who joined Arsenal in 2014 after being surplus to 
requirements at Barcelona, has established himself as a key member of 
the Gunners’ side in recent years.<br />
<br />

The 27-year-old scored 13 Premier League goals last season and is 
regularly referred as the north London club’s most influential player.<br />
<br />

<strong>Messi</strong> and <strong>Ronaldo</strong>, meanwhile, have 
shared a stranglehold on the Ballon d’Or for the last eight years and 
are widely regarded as the best two players.<br />
<br />

But the Chilean is adamant he is already operating on the same level 
as his rivals and Wenger believes his star man is capable of reaching

“He[Sanchez] is ambitious and, of course, he is a guy who wants to win every single game,” Wenger insisted.<br />

“It’s good to have that kind of ambition.<br />

“He has the potential and the quality and it’s just up to him to show that.<br />

“Ronaldo and Messi have done it for years so the consistency of their
 performances speaks for them. I hope Alexis can get that,” he added.</div>

<strong>Chelsea star, John Mikel Obi, has been unveiled as the new captain of the Super Eagles.</strong><br />

The news was broken by Ahmed Musa, who was the skipper until today. 
The CSKA Moscow winger replaced Vincent Enyeama, after the goalkeeper 
announced his retirement from international football.<br />

<blockquote>
“I want to announce now that from today, John Obi Mikel 
is our new captain,” Musa said at the Eagles’ press conference, ahead of
 Friday’s AFCON 2017 qualifier against Egypt.</blockquote>
Musa was flanked by interim manager, Samson Siasia and Mikel Obi during his announcement.<br />

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford takes free-kicks in a way that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo does.<br />

This is according to Red Devils legend Paul Scholes, who has insisted
 that we're yet to see the youngster's ability from a dead ball 
situation.<br />
<br />
18-year-old Rashford burst onto the scene last month by netting twice
 against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on his first start for the 
club.<br />
<br />
He followed that up by hitting a brace against Premier League rivals 
Arsenal just three days later and has been an ever-present in Louis van 
Gaal's side since.<br />
<br />
Despite the club's indifferent form, the Manchester-born attacker has
 excited the Old Trafford crowd in recent weeks, but Scholes believes 
that there is even more to come from the player.<br />
<br />

Class of Rashford</h2>
Scholes, who hasn't held back in criticising his former club 
throughout the course of the season, has also admitted that he isn't 
surprised by the form of Rashford.<br />
<br />
When speaking about the youngster, Scholes stated, as per the Manchester Evening News: "Marcus
 Rashford, however, is no surprise to me at all. I've seen him play 
since he was 14 or 15 and then in Paul McGuinness' side.<br />
<br />
"He's obviously only played a few times for the first team and his 
goals have been what you'd call 'goalscorers' goals' but he's got much 
so much more than that.<br />
<blockquote>
"You've not seen it yet, but he hits free-kicks in a dipping fashion, almost the way Ronaldo does."</blockquote>
<br />
<br />
After Scholes' comments, United fans will be hoping to see Rashford take a free-kick in a dangerous area in the near future.<br />
<br />
While some fans may well dismiss Scholes' comments comparing the 
youngster's free-kicks to Ronaldo's, others may well remember the 
striker's hit against Tottenham in an academy match last year.<br />

This most definitely proves that the gifted teenager can hit the ball like the Manchester United legend...<br />

Thierry Henry, who briefly played alongside the world-class striker at <b>Barcelona</b>,
 revealed something very interesting on Sky Sports this weekend. The 
French pundit confirmed he’s ‘heard’ that Zlatan wants to join <b>Arsenal</b> this summer.<br />

 "Who can we sign? Who's available? I hear that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to come,” Henry said, according to <b>Goal</b>. “It's a problem of who's going to want to come. Are we going to make the Champions League?<br />

“And Kanté could do a good job,” Henry added. “Those guys that people don't know about are the ones we need to try to get.  <br />

"We need to see if we can win this one [the Premier League title in 
2015-16]. There's not going to be a better chance than the chance that 
we have to win this one. Although we're far away from it at the moment, 
there's still some points to go so hopefully we can do it. It doesn't 
look like it but I still believe we can." <br />

Zlatan is still class - but can Arsenal afford him?</h2>
Zlatan has scored a magnificent 31 goals in 37 appearances for PSG 
this season - the fifth successive campaign in which he’s scored over 30
 goals in all competitions - and is showing no signs of slowing down.<br />

But he won’t come cheap. Ibra will be looking to secure one last big 
salary before retirement - and it’s unclear how much money Arsenal would
 be prepared to offer a player in his mid-30s.</div>

They are riding high at the top of the Premier League, but that hasn’t turned Leicester City’s stars turning into, well, stars.<br />
Four players from Leicester’s table-topping team were refused entry 
into a London nightclub on Saturday while players from Tottenham were 
welcomed with open arms.<br />
<br />
The Mirror reported that Danny Drinkwater, Andy King, Matty James and
 Ben Hamer were trying to celebrate Drinkwater’s 26th birthday at 
Mayfair club Drama, but had to step aside as Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier and 
Nacer Chadli entered the fancy club.<br />
<br />
The whole country is cheering Leicester on in their bid to upset the 
established order but despite Drinkwater’s heroics at the heart of 
midfield, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez are the most recognisable figures
 from the team.<br />
<br />
Maybe if either of those two players, who will be in the running to 
be crowned Player of the Year, were present, Drinkwater and co. wouldn’t
 have had to face the humiliation of being turned away.<br />

They had dressed up for the occasion, too, making it all the worse. 
Following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Watford, which extended their lead 
at the top of the table to five points, all Leicester’s players wanted 
was to celebrate.<br />

They even had to stand and watch as Tottenham’s players were allowed 
in. The trio had a little less to celebrate following their 2-2 draw 
with Arsenal, in which they conceded the lead despite playing against 10
 men. <br />

Fantastic Foxes</h2>
Leicester’s players left in a taxi but they certainly wouldn’t trade 
positions with their Tottenham rivals. Lloris and co. are Leicester’s 
nearest challengers but the Foxes do not look like a team that will slip
