The Russian Premier League club earlier rejected a $21.6m (£15.1m) offer and are now poised to improve the fee up to the tune of $27m (£18.9m) valuation of the forward.

The Super Eagles captain is said to be open to move to the EPL following a $32.5m (£22.8m) buyout clause in his contract, which runs until 2019.

Musa could feature for the EPL table leaders on February 2 against Liverpool as Leicester are expected to return with an improved bid for the player before the transfer window closes on February 1.

The former Kano Pillars and VVV Venlo forward has scored 10 goals in 29 games this season and 11 times in 56 appearances for Nigeria.
