Nigerian army has intercepted fleeing Boko Haram insurgents that attempted to escape from bombardment on Sambisa forest.
The insurgents were running through Pulka. The military decisively dealt with Boko Haram members in blocking position in the area.
Colonel Sani Usman, army’s spokesman, in a statement said that during the encounter many of the terrorists were killed while one was taken alive.
The troops also recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun, several rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions, 47 rifle magazines, 36 hand grenades and quite a number of Shilka gun empty shells.
In the same vein, the soldiers have also dealt another decisive blow
to the Boko Haram members at Buni Yadi general area on December 7,
Monday.
At an encounter, the army found a Toyota Hilux, 2 boxes of 7.62mm ammunitions and some improvised explosive making devices cords.
During his presidential campaign and upon taking office on May 29 President Muhammadu Buhari has constantly claimed that ending the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria is his key target.
Buhari also visited neighboring countries and supported a multi-national joint task force to fight the militant sect, committing $100 million to the fight.
